Coronavirus - World Health Organization has declared an international emergency over the novel coronavirus from Wuhan, China. The organization has declared an emergency as the disease has spread to 18 other countries apart from China where it originated.
Task Force for Coronavirus - A task force has been constituted by the Government of India to restrict the Novel Coronavirus outspread in India. Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy and Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri are the members of the task force.
Kerala State Calamity - Kerala has declared ‘state calamity’ after three people found positive for the coronavirus. More than 350 people have died in China due to this disease.
AP Abolished Legislative Council -  Andhra Pradesh cabinet has adopted a resolution to abolition the legislative council, which the government feels is a major hurdle for passing crucial bills.
Taranjit Singh Sandhu - Taranjit Singh Sandhu takes charge as the new Indian Ambassador to the United States. He will succeed Ambassador Harsh Vardhan Shringla.
Arvind Krishna - Indian-origin Arvind Krishna has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of International Business Machines (IBM).
Constitution Bench for Women - The Supreme Court announced on January 30, 2020 that its nine-judge constitution bench will frame issues regarding discrimination against women in various religions places including the Sabarimala Temple in Kerala. 
Sunil Mehta - Sunil Mehta took over as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA).

BAFTA Award - The British Academy Film and Television Arts Awards (BAFTA) ceremony held in London. The film ‘1917’ directed by British filmmaker Sam Mendes won the Best Film Award in the BAFTA ceremony. Actor Joaquin Phoenix was awarded the Best Actor Award for the film ‘Joker’ while actress Renee Zellweger won the Best Actress Award for the film ‘Judy’.
Tyler Prize - Indian environmental economist Pavan Sukhdev was awarded the 2020 Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement on January 27, 2020. He received the award jointly alongside conservation biologist Gretchen C Daily. Sukhdev was the head and special adviser of UNEP’s 'Green Economy Initiative'.
Anti-CAA Resolution - West Bengal became the fourth state to pass anti-CAA resolution on January 27, 2020. The other three states include Kerala, Punjab and Rajasthan.
European Union Approved Brexit Deal - The European Union parliament has approved United Kingdom Brexit deal. European Parliament has voted overwhelmingly to approve the Brexit deal with London, clearing the final hurdle for Britain’s departure from the EU.
Coin on Brexit - Britain has unveiled a new 50 pence coin minted to mark Brexit (British Exit). Brexit is the withdrawal of the United Kingdom (UK) from the European Union (EU).
Official Mascot of National Game - ‘Rubigula’, Flame-Throated Bulbul, has been unveiled as the official mascot for the Goa 2020 National Games in Panaji, Goa. The Flame-Throated Bulbul is the state bird of GoaGoa will be hosting the 36th edition of the National Games from 20th October to 4th November 2020.
Low-Cost Satellite Launch Vehicles - The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has announced that it is preparing low-cost satellite launch vehicles costing around 30-35 crores each. These low-cost launch vehicles can put into orbit satellites weighing 500 kgs.
Bharat Parv - A festival to celebrate the spirit of India “Bharat Parv 2020” has begun at Red Fort Ground in New Delhi. The theme of this year’s Bharat Parv is ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ and ‘Celebrating 150 Years of Mahatma Gandhi.
Operation Vanilla - Indian Navy has launched “Operation Vanilla” to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief at Madagascar. ‘Operation Vanilla’ has been launched to provide assistance to the affected population of Madagascar post devastation caused by Cyclone Diane.
War Memorial - The Assam Rifles has constructed a combined war memorial in Nagaland. The memorial has been built for the 357 Army and Assam Rifles personnel killed while fighting insurgency in the northeastern state.
War Memorial for Animals - Government of India is a plan to set up a war memorial for animals in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. It will be India’s first animal war memorial.
World Sustainable Summit - The World Sustainable Summit 2020 is an annual event organized by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) at New Delhi. This year theme of the event is: ‘Towards 2030: Making the Decade Count’.
E-waste Clinic - India’s first e-waste clinic is being opened in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The e-waste clinic is jointly set up by the Central Pollution Control Board-CPCB and Bhopal Municipal Corporation-BMC.
N. Ram - The chairman of “The Hindu Group” N. Ram has been selected as the outstanding media person in a national award instituted by Kerala Media Academy.
Top State in Vegetable Production - West Bengal emerged as the top State in vegetable production in 2018-19. West Bengal has overtaken Uttar Pradesh. Andhra Pradesh continued to hold on to the pole position in fruits, followed by Maharashtra.
Election Commission Signed Agreement - The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has granted its approval to the Election Commission of India to ink agreement with Papua New Guinea Electoral Commission and Independent High Authority for Elections of Tunisia.
World Bank Loan - A USD 210 million loan agreement has been signed by the Government of India and the Government of Maharashtra & the World Bank for Maharashtra Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project.
FEMBoSA - The Forum of the Election Management Bodies of South Asia (FEMBoSA) has got a new chairman- Sunil Arora for the year 2020.
Super Fab Lab - Chief Minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurates India’s 1st Super Fab Lab in Kochi, Kerala. The Super Fab Lab is being installed in collaboration with KSUM (Kerala Startup Mission). The laboratory will break down barriers between the physical world and the digital world.
Shiv Bhojan Scheme - Maharashtra government launched ‘Shiv Bhojan’ scheme. The scheme aims to provide a meal to the poor for just 10 rupees, on the occasion of the 71st Republic Day.
Marjan Sarec - Prime Minister of Slovenian Marjan Sarec announced his resignation and called for new elections as the country’s coalition struggles with political deadlock.
Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters - Theatre person, Sanjana Kapoor received the prestigious French honour of ‘Chevalier dans lOrdre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) for her outstanding contribution to the field of theatre.
World Games Athlete of the Year - Indian women’s team captain Rani Rampal became the 1st-ever hockey player worldwide to win the prestigious ‘World Games Athlete of the Year’ award 2019.
Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana - Madhya Pradesh received the award for the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. Indore has been ranked at first place among the districts for better performance of the scheme.
Maldives Joined Commonwealth - The Maldives has once again joined the Commonwealth. Maldives separated from the Commonwealth about three years ago due to the issues of Human Rights.
Gram Nyayalayas - The Supreme Court on February 3, 2020 directed the states to set up 'Gram Nyayalayas'. The states have been directed to issue notification regarding the same within four weeks. Gram Nyayalayas are village courts that aim to provide speedy and easy access to the judicial system in rural areas of the country. 
National Emergency in Pakistan - Pakistan's PM Imran Khan declared a national emergency to fight the massive locusts’ attack that has destroyed the entire fields in Pakistan’s Punjab province.
Global Traffic Index - According to the Global Traffic Index-2019 Bengaluru is the world’s worst traffic-hit city in the world.
RFID Tags - Indian Railways said in its statement that all coaches and engines will be equipped with RFID tags by the year 2021. This project will cost Rs. 112.96 crore.
SIPRI Report - Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) has recently released its annual report on weapons in the world. It says that China is the second biggest weapon producer country after the USA. In the recent report, China has surpassed Russian companies.
Global Potato Conclave - The 3rd Global Potato Conclave-2020 begins today at Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the conclave through video conferencing.
INS Kavaratti - Defence PSU Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) is set to deliver anti-submarine warfare stealth corvette INS Kavaratti to the Indian Navy. INS Kavaratti is 104th warship constructed by GRSE.
Waste to Energy Plant - Indian Railways has commissioned India’s 1st governmental waste-to-energy plant in Mancheswar Carriage Repair workshop at Bhubaneswar under the East Coast Railway zone.
New PM of Qatar - Qatar has appointed Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdelaziz Al Thani as new Prime Minister.

Oxford Hindi Word of 2019 - Oxford University Press (OUP) named “Samvidhaan” (Constitution) the Oxford Hindi Word of 2019.
Largest Meditation Centre - World’s largest meditation centre was inaugurated in Hyderabad, Telangana. This centre is built to mark the 75th anniversary of the formation of Shri Ram Chandra Mission (SRCM) and Heartfulness Institute.
Surajkund International Crafts Fair - President Ram Nath Kovind will inaugurate the 34th Surajkund International Crafts Fair on February 1, 2020, in Faridabad, Haryana. For the 34th Surajkund International Crafts Mela-2020, the partner country of the fair is Uzbekistan. The state of Himachal Pradesh has been chosen to be the Theme State.
BSE Signed Agreement - The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) has signed a licensing agreement with Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) Futures Europe. Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) Futures Europe is an operator of global exchanges and clearinghouses.

African Cheetah - The Supreme Court allowed the Centre to introduce the African cheetah to suitable habitat in India. The rare Indian cheetah is almost extinct in the country, the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) had filed an application seeking permission for the introduction of the African cheetah from Namibia.
New Guinness World Record - Nepal has created a new Guinness World Record for organizing highest altitude Fashion Show on the earth. The Mount Everest Fashion Runway was held at 5340 meters (17515 feet) elevation at Kala Patthar, near Everest base camp.
USMCA Trade Pact - US President Donald Trump has signed the new United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement (USMCA) North American trade pact with Canada and Mexico into law.
SAMPRITI-IX - The 9th edition of joint military training exercise between India-Bangladesh SAMPRITI-IX will be conducted at Umroi, Meghalaya.
Google Grants to India - Google announced a 1-million USD grant to promote news literacy among Indians. According to Google, the grant will work towards building a strong network of senior reporters and journalists, who will counteract fake news in India.
World Leprosy Day - In India, World Leprosy Day is observed on Jan 30 every year to commemorate the death of Mahatma Gandhi who was assassinated on this day in 1948. This year theme of World Leprosy Day 2020 is “Leprosy isn’t what you think”.
Australian Open - Serbian tennis star, Novak Djokovic has won the men’s singles title of Australian Open 2020.
New Target for Highway Construction - Union Government has made a target for the construction of national highways in the country. As per the new target 30kms of the highway will be constructed every day. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari recently said that the government is constructing about 25.23 km every day on an average.

GATI Web Portal - Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari recently launched online Web Portal ‘GATI’. It has been prepared by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) after taking inspiration from PMO’s PRAGATI portal. People can raise projects or construction-related issued on this portal. Not only this, the problem raised will be monitored daily by a team of officers in NHAI.
